Twitter became X, but chats and bookmarks are still full of twitter.com links. This Twitter video downloader accepts both kinds: paste an x.com or twitter.com link to a post and SaveContentMe pulls out the video, GIF or photo. You don't need an X account or the app, and it works the same in a phone browser as on a desktop. It's handy for keeping a news clip, a meme or a quick how-to from your timeline to watch later offline. If the video sits deep in a long thread, paste the link to the exact post that holds it.
The video from a post arrives as MP4 with sound. GIFs work a little differently: X doesn't keep them as .gif files but as short silent videos, so that's what you download, an MP4 that plays on any phone or computer without a special app. Photos from posts are saved whole, as X serves them. Videos up to about 50 MB keep their original resolution; anything heavier is scaled down to fit, and very long videos may be unavailable.
Posts from protected accounts, the ones only approved followers can see, can't be downloaded, and neither can deleted posts. If a link doesn't work, check that it points to a specific post rather than to a profile: a post's address has the word status and a number after the username. In the X app, the Share icon under the post gives you the right link. When you download X videos made by someone else, keep them for yourself or ask the author before reposting.

X stores GIFs as short MP4 clips, so that's the file you get. It plays on any device and looks the same as in the feed.
Do old twitter.com links still work?
Yes. Links on twitter.com and x.com work exactly the same.
Can I download a video from a protected account?
No. Posts from protected accounts are visible only to approved followers, so SaveContentMe can't reach them.
Do I need an X account?
No. All you need is the link to the post, with nothing to sign in to, here or on X.
